Type away!

Leroy Anderson's The Typewriter. Brilliant music!
John Williams described him as "one of the great American masters of light orchestral music."
I'm wondering what makes that "ting ting" sound on a typewriter and what it's for (when you're not making music with it).
Obviously I don't belong to that era...




One of his work, The Syncopated Clock is more well known.
Listen and see. You must have already heard it before somewhere, at least the starting, if you don't live in a cave!

  1. The "ting" sound is an alert to the typist that s/he is coming to the end of a line and needs to do a carriage return.

    I now officially feel old.
